Out with Summer and In with School.

From the sandy shores of Port Aransas, Texas, to the picturesque landscapes of Clovis, New Mexico, and the breathtaking vistas of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, our summer was a whirlwind of exploration.

In Port Aransas, we basked in the sun and played in the waves, relishing every moment of our time on the beach. Seafood feasts became our daily ritual, and it was here that Mallary and I celebrated our remarkable journey together, marking 13 wonderful years.

Our journey took us inland to Clovis, New Mexico, where my brother and sister-in-law greeted us with open arms. They indulged our kids with sweets, sumptuous meals, and even a spin around the block in my brother’s impressive Stingray Corvette.

Finally, we ventured to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where we were greeted to daily views of the majestic San Juan Mountain range. Hiking the trails of the San Juan National Forest, we marveled at the cascading beauty of Pagosa Falls Trail and the stunning Piedra Falls.

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and so did our summer adventures.

With the changing seasons, we find ourselves eagerly returning to Fort Worth, ready to embrace the new school year unfolding in our community and on the campus.

It’s somewhat surreal to think that we are embarking on our second school year in Fort Worth ISD.

God has showered our family with incredible favor, both in our community and on campus, as we settle into the familiar rhythms of school days.

Teachers have been met, classrooms explored, and expectations set as we prepare for another year of growth and learning.

The Brown kids with Kendall Condit, Rolling Hills Elementary Principal.

Our hope was for the kids to begin at the newly built Rolling Hills Elementary School, just a stone’s throw from our home.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen delays, they won’t start there until late October.

For now, they’ll continue at Westpark Elementary School, the same school they attended last year.

Speaking of Westpark, this will serve as our temporary gathering place, starting September 10th, until Rolling Hills is ready to welcome us by the end of October (fingers crossed and prayers said!).

Join us at 11 am on Sunday, September 10th, 2023, as we put one foot in the community and the other on campus.

As our children settle into their school routines, Mosaic Church Fort Worth is also finding its place in the community and on campus, forging new partnerships and connections.

One such partnership has blossomed with Marta Plata, the Executive Director of Parent Partnerships at FWISD, and her dedicated team.

They tirelessly support various departments, including Fort Worth After School, Parent Partnerships, Family Resource Center, Adult Education, Health Services, and the Family Action Center.

Marta Plata meeting with her department leads to cast vision for 2024.

We’re working together to empower families by nurturing relationships that pave the way for sustainable academic achievement.

Through parent engagement, family resources, and school readiness classes, we’re sowing the seeds of positive change in the community and the growing number of nations represented.

But that’s not all.

As we build bridges in the community, we’re also strengthening our ties on campus, particularly at Texas Christian University (TCU) and Dallas Baptist University (DBU).

At TCU, we’re hitting the ground running, eager to share the gospel once more.

We’re reconnecting with old friends and making new ones, believing that God will work through the lives of students, discipling their classmates through the One2One app, and transforming hearts through weekly connect meetings.

TCU students, Joya and Sydnee, are back on campus and actively sharing their lives and the gospel with the TCU student body.

In addition, we’re providing pastoral care and support to Logan Acuff, a first-year student at DBU.

We met Logan through our Every Nation church affiliation, and he’s on a mission to establish an Every Nation Campus chapter at DBU.

First-year Dallas Baptist University student Logan and I catch up to connect and pray into a move of God establishing an Every Nation chapter on campus.

While the journey from Southwest Fort Worth is a trek, we’re trusting in God to work through Logan, reaching students with the gospel and possibly planting a church on or near the DBU campus in the years to come.

But for now, our focus is clear: one student at a time, one day at a time, through the One2One app.

Exciting times lie ahead as we embark on new beginnings in our community and on campus, engaging, establishing, equipping, and empowering disciples of Jesus.

Your steadfast support, both in prayer and finances, is the lifeblood of God’s mission for us. As led by the Spirit, it’s what fuels transformation on campuses and in neighborhoods across Fort Worth.

Together, let’s continue to shine the light of Jesus into all places, things, and, most importantly, into the hearts of those who need Him most.
